The Magick of H&P


Shumsha brings two decades of experience in leadership & guidance as the founder of her thriving family law practice. She has helped hundreds of families navigate complex emotional and legal challenges with grace and compassion. Shumsha embodies the vibrant dance between accomplishment and joy through her devotion to the Hustle and Play philosophy for the last 5 years. She has woven this transformative system into the fabric of her life, discovering that true success occurs when living a values-aligned life in community. Her mission with facilitating the peer-learning group “The Magick of H&P” is to help folks capture this magick in their lives. Shumsha and her wonderful husband have been married for 25 years and raised 3 brilliant humans who fill her with profound pride and wonder. She is an avid traveler and reader, and has intentionally created a life filled with ease, grace, flow and magick. Shumsha's newest venture is hosting divorce retreats for women beginning in Fall 2025.

Morgan Shidler helps people grow the life of their dreams as the Founer of H&P. With a masters in Organization & Leadership, a 2023 TedX talk titled “Becoming Well in a Culture of Burnout” and 15 years working in Educational Leadership, she believes whole-heartedly that play is the antidote to burnout and the systemic injustices that cause it. Since Hustle & Play launched in 2019, she’s helped over a thousand folks grow their dream lives through partnerships with organizations like Kendo Brands, UCLA, and LA County; as well as through peer learning groups, coaching, workshops & retreats for individuals. She started Hustle & Play through a Kickstarter campaign, and continues to fund its growth through her thriving professional photography business: Morgan Shidler Photography. She lives in Long Beach, Ca, playing lots of sports and hanging out with her puppy, Koda.

Chase grew up in Sonoma County just 5 minutes from Morgan! They went to the same elementary, middle and high schools, started college just an hour away from each other in southern california, and both ended up graduating San Francisco State. Their stories as friends are full of play that span decades! Chase was an athlete playing football & rugby through college, always embodying leadership, grit, teamwork, accountability and joy along the way. He met his wife Jonnie soon after college where they built a life in San Francisco and grew careers in the hospitality industry. They had 2 kids, got married, moved back to Sonoma County, and opened their first restaurant, Steele & Hops in their first 10 years together.  In January 2020 they started Hustle & Play as a couple, unaware how COVID would hurt their business just two months later.  By summer of 2022 they intentionally decided to plan the closure of their restaurant while visualizing the next 2 years as a family.  They bought a new restaurant that Jonnie would run, while Chase would work part-time and take care of their home life.  In 2024, they took their family to Japan for 3 months and moved back to San Francisco.  With 4 years of doing H&P together, they were able to articulate and achieve their dream life, even with all the “storms” of COVID and everything else.  Chase will be facilitating the breakout sessions for the men’s portion of the romantic partners group.  He has great perspective on how H&P helps partners create and execute their dreams while joyfully building time for the practice together as a couple.
